Renata Piper [userpic]
the daily dog

. her white blood cell count is low, but not crashed, so that seems all right. everything else about her blood is okay.

. she was very low-energy today and required a lot of support. elf my elf contributed muchly.

. things she ate:

.. six or seven handfuls of kibble, mostly fed directly but a few from her bowl
.. a few ounces of a pralines-n-cream ice cream soda
.. an apple core
.. about 10cc of low-sodium chicken broth, by syringe
.. water from her bowl (after the above)
.. metoclopramide and baytril (antiemetic and antibiotic)

with those last three it seems she can skip sub-q fluids hopefully safely for today.

she and the elf are now out on walk #2. she trotted (albeit slowly) about a third of walk #1, which was good to see.

You may want to keep track of the weather / barometer readings for about a day on each side of when she has a "low energy day". Note that right now the wunderground forecast is 60% chance of some snow tonite. It's likely she feels the weather change in her bones. I know that Kosh felt the weather changes more keenly in his last year or so than at any other time in his lifetime.

thanks, that should be easily done with the weather almanac and the level of journaling i've been doing, and i will check it.

(that said, so far her energy levels seem to track her white blood cell counts pretty closely.)

so this morning is quite chilly, but roses was a bit more energetic on our breakfast walk! :)

did kosh have arthritis? that would definitely be responsive to weather.... roses has only a little, in her hips, which she gets glucosamine and chondroitin for.... the main contributor to her lack of energy seems to be the chemo drugs (or possibly the lymphoma itself, though i am 90% sure that's in remission right now, haven't confirmed it with her vets).

Kosh did have some arthritis, but I think the fact that his ticker was ailing might have been worsened by the weather. It did seem that pending *changes* in weather were bad for him, but once the weather stabilized (either the storm had actually arrived, or the sky was done making itself clear) he got better.

interesting. roses' heart is fine, and changes in the weather don't bother her.

love to you all. and skritches and big fluffy hugs.

thanks!

she is lying on my bed, givin' out licks :)
