apparently this time she just wanted me to put on my coat and her leash, and stand there while she finished the dinner she couldn't eat at dinnertime....

Hmm. At this point, she may want reassurance that it's worth the effort to go on in order to go on. If that makes sense. :/

yeah. usually she just wants petting, but i think it falls under the general category that someone (not me) called "validating the dog's existence".

that incident was utterly unprecedented for her routine :) but i do think it comes under the header that someone (not me, don't remember who) called "validating her existence" :)
